more reviews

I haven't written anything since April ??????

OK, so Survivor totally sucks this season.....Russell and Parvati are completely running the show which is completely ruining the show!!

We had our book club on the 22nd and it was was at Shellie Hansens "beautiful" home! Just to refresh....we read The Help for April and it was AWESOME!!! This book is definitely on my to buy list!!!! I started it the Friday after our last book club and finished on Saturday. Couldn't put it down. (it also helped that Dylan was gone to a track meet all day) The book takes place in Mississippi in the 60's and the black ladies that are the help(maid, nanny, server, basically anything they want them to be) to the white ladies. It's funny, disturbing, insightful and to me the ending made the book. We had some great conversations. Not too many different opinions...just very profound opinions. It seemed like the book affected everyone in looking at ourselves as to how we treat people in our lives. I was raised w/ the opinion of different races not even being an issue so one thing I got out of the book was how the 60's were not THAT long ago and I didn't realize people were still being treated in that way. I have known that Martin Luther King was a very important figure and reading this book just made me realize how much the black communities needed someone like him or Rosa Parks or anyone else that helped with the movements in those days.
So on to more of the night...Shellie made a caramel cake which was in the book. It was suggested that she make a chocolate pie but she thought it would offend. (you have to read the book to understand that part) haha!! So next month we're reading The Guernsey Literary and Potatoe Peel Pie Society. I read this one over a year ago and loved it so I'm excited to read it again. I loaned my copy out so I hope I get a chance to read it before the next meeting.
Ok, so......lets get onto some movies I've seen. I've been having a marathon of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. As of today...I'm on season 4 w/only 2 episodes to go. I found it on my Netflix as an instant play (all 7 seasons) and its been fun. A little corney at times but hey!!! it's vampire stuff. ps ......from watching this I kinda wonder if Stephenie Meyer loved this show cause there are a couple of moments that reminded so much of Twilight. Which is funny cause I hate it when I read or see something and you just know they got that idea from her books so it's different to see a vampire series that was made long before she wrote her 1st book!!!
Another movie I want to talk about is a must have. Dont have it yet....but I have a promise to myself that I will very very soon. It's Young Victoria. So good!!! I first learned about this movie back in October and wanted to see it so bad when it came out in December to the theater but of course Roger decided not to bring it to Ephrata. To his credit...it didnt go to Moses either, but I like to blame everything like that on him. Emily Blunt is Queen Victoria and does such a great job. Rupert Friend is Prince Albert and does an equally amazing job. I cant wait to have this movie in my possession because I wanted to see it again as soon as I finished.
I also watched a few other movies....The Easter bunny brought Dylan the Blind Side which was really really good!! I watched Love Happens w/Jennifer Aniston and actually didnt finish it cause it was so boring and also a Rupert Everett movie, The Ideal Husband. I love Rupert alot but this particular movie was just ok. I did add it back onto my Netflix so I can try it again at a later time. I do have Whip It that's waiting to be watched. More on that one later.
So, I'll continue w/my Buffy marathon which has lead to the spin off of Angel that is about 4 seasons, which lead to the Bones seasons. All of these are on Netflix so I guess I'll be getting good use of my account in the weeks to come.

The Boys are Back

Today I watched a movie called The Boys are Back. It stars Clive Owens about a man who's wife has died and left him w/a young son. He also has another son with his first wife and that one lives in London and doesnt have a real relationship with him but he ends up coming to stay with him. He's a very carefree father at least when it comes to rules and such. Very loving with his boys and basically doesnt say to no to them. Thats his philosophy. Just say YES!! The movie is really very good....sad...and touching.
It made me wish I had said Yes more to Dylan when he was growing up.

update survivor moment.

well.....I probably jinxed Rob by talking about how much I wanted him to win because he went home tonight. Such a stupid move from those people. Why in the world did that tribe let Jerri and Coach become the swing votes. They are the stupidest people on the planet. I cant wait to see their faces when Russell goes back on his word and votes them out. Do they really believe that he'll take them to end? And what was up with Coach voting for Courtney! UGH!!
It's hard to sit here and watch these idiots!!!!

And then my friend Randy texts me.(remember she's on Russells side) It said "I'm Sorry!" I know she definitly was NOT rubbing it my face but my only response I had was "whatever" so I didnt text back.

So now I've come to the conclusion that the whole game is rigged. Thinking in terms of Robs gameplay, they should've kept Sugar and Randy cause they werent threats like Russell and Parvati. Everyone knew from day one what kind of players they are and if I was on that Island with the likes of Parvati who actually won the game the 2nd time she played and Russell who after watching last season....got really far with his sneaky gameplay, I would be voting them off first, So I think it's CBS's intent to keep the powerhouses on for the ratings and so they fix it!!! So people like me can pace back and forth in front of their TV during tribal council.
Just thinking!

survivor moment

Tonight is another episode of Survivor. My friend Randy and I go back and forth on two certain people. Boston Rob and Russell. Rob has been my favorite since his season 4 days (he didnt win). He was on All-Stars season 8 (sidenote: I just now doubted my memory if all stars was season 8 or 10 and I googled it and it was season 8...yes! Am I a fan or what!!) and made it to the finals only to beat out by Amber and now he's back for season 20-Heroes vs Villains. (he's a villain). In the game of Survivor Rob is very deceiving..hard headed..powerful...the alpha male type. I love watching his sneaky ways and how he tries so very hard to win.

Russell was on just this last season and yes, I liked him and was very disappointed when he didnt win cause he should have. He is also very powerful and the alpha male type and I liked watching his sneaky ways and how hard he tried to win the game. But this season, I am mad at him.

He starts the same crap he did last season but this time he's trying to get Rob out and I dont like that so then it's not fun for me anymore. My thinking is Rob the pro here....Dont mess w/him!

So it comes down to this. I love Rob! Russell last season I liked but this season I dont and I just hope he gets voted out before Rob does.
We'll see how tonight goes!
