We started a bookclub back in December and have had 3 meetings so far since January. It's members are some of my friends from 3rd ward and tho I'm in 2nd ward now...they still include in everything. yay!!! What we do is meet at someone's house once a month and discuss the book, usually getting off topic at times, eat food, and talk! The person who's house we're at gets to pick the next book and runs the discussion of it for the next month. A new house is picked for the next meeting and then they will get to pick the next book. It's very fun and I cant wait for it to be my turn. I usually dont like to have a set meeting to go to during the week besides Enrichment and even then I grumble when I have to go, but this is so much fun. Friends, Food and the love of life....BOOKS!!
The first meeting in January was at Becky Yawney's house and the book was "The Hunger Games" by Suzanne Collins which I had read about a year earlier and of course....Loved IT! (There's a 2nd book too "Catching Fire") In February we were at Jana's house and read "Emma" which I had already like 3 times and then I couldnt make it to that one since I was in Texas for my moms service. They did tell me tho that some actually read it, some watched a movie, some tried but couldnt get through it. It is a little hard if you're not used to reading Jane Austen. So, for March we were at Anna's house and read "The book of a thousand days" by Shannon Hale. This is a young adult book and it was really good. I was surprised by it which is always good since most things I read or watch are very predictable. Everyone really liked it and we had great conversation about it. The next book we're reading for April is "The Help" by Kathryn Stockett. I'm looking forward to it. Also got another book. Kind of a little kids book called Homeless Bird. More on those two later!!!!
